Lim Foodie was in Netherland from the 25th of July in 2019 to 31th of July in 2019. I was spent 4days in Amsterdam and 2 days in a different city called Zaanse Schans, Volendam, Hague and Rotterdam. These cities aren’t far away from Amsterdam so I just did a day trip from Amsterdam. Like the iconic canal in Amsterdam which connects to each district, Lim food will play a role as a little boat which can help my passengers to travel to the best restaurant in Netherland. Are you ready to follow my blog? I will make you feel like Netherland as Neverland which Peter Pan is lived in.

Lim Foodie’s Review:
I ordered shakshuka with chorizo and feta cheese, along with a farmer cheese omelegg. The name “shakshuka” sounded unfamiliar to me, so I Googled it and discovered that it’s a Turkish-style tomato-baked eggs dish. I decided to add chorizo and feta cheese to it, creating a rich and flavorful combination. The addition of cheese enhances the overall taste of the shakshuka. As for the omelegg, I opted for the farmer cheese variety, and it was exceptionally fresh and well-made.
The restaurant features an open kitchen, allowing diners to witness the entire cooking process from preparation to serving. In comparison to typical brunch spots, most of the food served here is quite healthy. If you’re looking to kickstart your day with a light and nutritious brunch, this should be your next breakfast destination. However, I must mention that I wasn’t a fan of the orange juice. Despite being fresh-squeezed, it wasn’t served cold. Due to the restaurant’s busyness, the service was decent but not exceptional.
The atmosphere of the restaurant is simple, more like a local-style brunch spot than a fancy establishment. Conveniently located just 5 minutes away from the central station, it’s an excellent choice for both travelers and working individuals. The pricing of the food is reasonable, considering the generous portions.
Lim Foodie’s Tip: This place has been featured in many food blogs as a delicious brunch spot, so be prepared for potential waiting times.

Lim foodie’s review:
Dutch pancakes are the dessert representation of the Netherlands. While many might associate tulips with desserts, in reality, Dutch pancakes take the spotlight. Unlike the fluffy American pancakes, Dutch pancakes are thin and crispy, covering the entire pan.
Excited to try these delicacies, I found a brunch shop that offered a variety of options for both American and Dutch pancakes. Opting for the strawberry yogurt lemon honey Dutch pancake, my sweet tooth was thoroughly satisfied. Meanwhile, my friend chose the savory cheese bacon pancake, ideal for those who prefer a salty breakfast.
The staff at the brunch shop were friendly and efficient, serving the food promptly. I enjoyed the atmosphere of the place, with options for both indoor seating and a patio. Opting to sit outside, I had the pleasure of overlooking the beautiful canal on a sunny day. It was a delightful experience, savoring mouth-watering pancakes against the backdrop of Amsterdam’s scenic views.
PANCAKES has several locations in Amsterdam, and the central location near Anne Frank’s house was my pick. If you’re a tourist planning to visit Anne Frank’s house, consider stopping by this pancake haven before or after your tour. Additionally, the prices are reasonable.
Lim Foodie’s Tip: Keep in mind that this place only accepts credit cards, so make sure to have yours ready before coming here. Enjoy your pancake adventure!

When in the Netherlands, a visit to Rotterdam is a must. This city is renowned for its unique architecture, including cube houses, pencil houses, and the market hall. To kickstart your journey in Rotterdam, starting with the right breakfast is crucial.
I discovered a small brunch shop nestled inside a vintage store. Opting for “The Avo to Smash” with a soft-boiled egg and smoked salmon, I was treated to a delightful combination. They toasted wholemeal bread, smashed avocado with peppers and pepper powders, topped it with a sunny-side-up egg and salmon—a healthy and delicious choice. As an appetizer, I tried the peanut and jelly bowl. Made with fresh ingredients and peanut butter, it added a delightful crunch to the meal, bringing joy to each bite.
The service at this brunch spot was friendly and laid-back. The atmosphere was cozy and unique, adorned with beautiful decorations on the walls, including a neon sign of an avocado, green plants, and other cool items. While the location wasn’t central, requiring a walk of more than 20 minutes from the station, I preferred exploring the city on foot. The prices might lean towards the pricey side, but considering the vintage shop ambiance, it’s worth a visit after enjoying brunch.

Best lunch or dinner in Amsterdam

Lim Foodie’s Review:
When it comes to the best steak in Amsterdam, people invariably mention Cafe Loetje. Following the crowd, I decided to give this renowned restaurant a try. Cafe Loetje offers two types of steak— one with gravy sauce and the other with spicy sauce—available in different sizes. Opting for the Beef Tenderloin Steak Bali, served with spicy sauce in size XL as I intended to share it.
To complement the steak, I also ordered the fresh Salmon Salade. The dish was impeccably prepared, featuring fresh vegetables and succulent salmon. The service at the restaurant was outstanding, and the atmosphere struck a balance between modern and classic. I chose to sit on the patio during my visit in the summertime, enjoying the pleasant weather.
In terms of location, Cafe Loetje is conveniently situated near the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh museum, making it an ideal spot for tourists exploring these attractions. If you’ve spent the day at the museums, consider heading to Cafe Loetje for a delightful dinner.
Lim Foodie’s Tip: Given the restaurant’s popularity, it’s advisable to make a reservation before visiting. If you’re flexible with your dining time, going around 4 pm might offer a chance to dine without a reservation, as it was less busy during my visit. Enjoy your steak experience!
The Seafood Bar
Van Baerlestraat 5, 1071 AL Amsterdam, Netherland

Lim Foodie’s Review:
Holland is renowned for its fresh fish and seafood from the North Sea, making it a must-try when in the Netherlands. With numerous elegant seafood restaurants to choose from, I decided to check out The Seafood Bar, influenced by the buzz in Korean food blogs. Despite initially heading to a different chain location by accident, I was fortunate to secure lunch at an alternate spot without a reservation.
For our meal, I opted for the Premium Mixed Grill, Oysters, and Crispy Mango Salad for both myself and my friend. The generous portions left us unable to finish everything. The Mixed Grill featured grilled lobster, the fish of the day, shrimp, and mussels—each component exuding freshness as if plucked directly from the North Sea. The ordered oysters were equally fresh and delightful. Additionally, every dish presented was aesthetically pleasing, showcasing the restaurant’s commitment to both taste and visual appeal.
The Crispy Mango Salad, with its well-prepared fresh mango, played a crucial role in refreshing our palates. This was especially welcome given the slight oiliness of the grill. The location of the restaurant is central, conveniently situated near Vondelpark, the Van Gogh Museum, and the Rijksmuseum. Consider having lunch here and taking a leisurely stroll through Vondelpark afterward. Enjoy your seafood experience!
Vatten Ramen Zeedijk

My MAIN:spicy Tonkotsu(€14) 🍜 + egg(€1.5) MY SIDE DISH:Kimchi(€5) FOOD: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ SERVICE:⭐️ ATMOSPHER:⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ LOCATION:⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ PRICE:⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Lim Foodie’s Review:
In the multicultural landscape of the Netherlands, diverse culinary options abound. Hailing from South Korea, my regular diet often includes Asian cuisine. Thus, I stumbled upon this Japanese restaurant, offering a variety of ramen choices. The standout, and most renowned, is the Tonkotsu ramen. Given my affinity for spice, I opted for the Spicy Tonkotsu ramen with an additional egg—a quintessential addition to any noodle dish.
The flavor resonated with the authenticity of traditional ramen, marking it as a noteworthy spot. However, the service left much to be desired. The restaurant, spanning both the ground floor and second floor, had only one server, leading to prolonged wait times for both ordering and receiving the bill. Despite the service hiccup, the restaurant’s location near the canal added a delightful touch. Savoring noodles with a view of vibrant Amsterdam certainly enhanced the dining experience. Situated centrally, the restaurant offers reasonably priced ramen for those seeking a taste of Japan in the heart of the Netherlands.
Cafe de Dijk

My MAIN: spicy chicken strips sandwich 🥪 (€9.5) and ceasar salad 🥗 (€3.5) MY DRINK: water(€3.5) FOOD: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ SERVICE:⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ATMOSPHER:⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ LOCATION:⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ PRICE:⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Lim Foodie’s Review: Have you heard about the charming fish village in the Netherlands? Volendam, just a day trip away from Amsterdam, is one such quaint town. While it may not be large, the crystal-clear ocean view makes the journey worthwhile. Along the sea walk, numerous restaurants dot the village, and I stumbled upon a tiny, serene eatery with a patio.
Opting for a Chicken Strips Sandwich and Caesar Salad to share with a friend, I discovered a delightful sweetness in the chicken strips. To my surprise, the Caesar Salad also featured anchovies—a nod to the town’s coastal setting. While the anchovy addition brought an intriguing twist to the salad, I’d caution against it for those sensitive to fishy flavors.
Situated right in front of the waterfront, the restaurant boasts an excellent location, and the prices are reasonable. A visit here provides not just a culinary experience but also a chance to soak in the scenic beauty of Volendam.

Lim Foodie’s Review:
Amsterdam’s charm lies in its canal city, with restaurants and cafes lining its waterways. While exploring the city, I stumbled upon this shop and decided to give it a try. Opting for a seat on the terrace, I enjoyed a Forest Fruits, Lime, and Yogurt Smoothie, which perfectly reflected the name of the drink.
Made with forest fruits and lime, the smoothie provided a healthy and tangy flavor. However, I wished it had been served frozen, as I prefer my drinks cold, especially during the summer. The atmosphere of the shop is simple and modern, and the prices are reasonable. Though the location is a bit away from the city center, it is conveniently situated near Bloemenmarkt—a public market selling a variety of local goods such as cheese, spices, and flowers.

My MAIN:small size fries 🍟(€3.55) FOOD: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ SERVICE:⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ATMOSPHER:⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ LOCATION:⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ PRICE:⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Lim Foodie’s Review: Amsterdam is renowned for its fries, and though there are numerous fry shops, I decided to give this one a try. Situated near Dam Square, the shop boasts excellent accessibility. With around 24 different sauce options, you can customize your fries with as much sauce as you desire, though additional charges apply.
Overwhelmed by the variety of options, I sought the worker’s recommendation and ended up with a small portion of fries accompanied by truffle mayo sauce. The fries were fresh and perfectly cooked, and even the smallest size proved to be quite generous. It’s advisable to share with friends as the portions are substantial. The service is quick and friendly, but due to the popularity of the place, be prepared to find a queue of people eagerly waiting to get their hands on some chips!
Markthal

Lim Foodie’s Review: Markthal is a residential and office building with a market hall located in Rotterdam. The building itself resembles an upside-down horseshoe. Inside the market, you’ll find a variety of food stalls and groceries, each with colorful displays. During my visit, I purchased a fruit cup from one of the fruit stores, and it was only 1 euro. The fruits were remarkably fresh and delicious. If you’re planning to visit the Cube House and the Pencil House, Markthal is a great place to grab some quick and tasty bites before your exploration.
